Downsville Fire District, Delaware County, New York
The Downsville Fire Department is an all-volunteer department covering the Downsville Fire District in the Catskills. The crew answers both fire calls and emergency medical calls, including basic and advanced life support, for the residents and visitors of the district.
Per the department's own public description, Downsville provides fire protection and emergency medical services to the district. That dual role is the difference: when the pager goes off, it can be a structure fire or a life-threatening medical call, and the same volunteers respond.
